How will the ex-Manchester United man get on in the role? What is the aim? What will count as success?
In January, former Manchester United midfielder Ryan Giggs was appointed manager of Wales to replace Chris Coleman, who joined Championship strugglers Sunderland.
Giggs had long been a target for the Football Association of Wales (FAW) and was the favourite for the role once Coleman departed after Wales failed to qualify for the 2018 World Cup.
"I am so proud to have been given the honour of managing the national team," he said.
Today sees a new era for the Welsh national team as Giggs takes charge of the team for the first time in the China Cup.
